Think on These

Things

Question: What does the Bible say about the modern nation of Israel? Is relations with Israel a spiritual or political issue?

Answer: With the coming of the kingdom of God in Jesus Christ, the Israel of God consists of all those who have justifying faith in him. A careful reading of John 1:11-13; Romans chs. 9-11; Galatians 3:26-29; 4:21-31; 6:16; Philippians 3:3; Hebrews 12:18-24; 1 Peter 2:9, et. al. makes this plain. According to the word of God, the spiritual status of the persons in the modern state of Israel is determined absolutely on the same basis as that of any other persons, viz., justifying faith in Jesus Christ! Those who have justifying faith in Christ (and no others) are part of the Israel of God. People today must read the Bible, and especially Old Testament prophecies, in light of the New Testament and its revelation of the true Israel of God. The task of Christians is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Jews and to all other peoples, so that all who will may become citizens of the true Israel of God. Relations with the modern state of Israel is purely a political issue.
