Think on These
Things

Question: Dear Sir, I have heard that the God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath and the God of the New Testament is a God of love. Is this true?
Answer: There are many passages in the New Testament about the wrath of God (e.g., Romans 1:18; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10), and there is much in the Old Testament about the love of God (e.g., Exodus 34:5-7 ; Deuteronomy 7:7, 8). Both Testaments reveal the same God. Perhaps it was according to God’s purpose to make known his wrath in early days in order to prepare humanity to receive his magnificent grace in Christ in this age. It was to satisfy his justice that God paid for our sins with his own Son (John 3:16).
