Question: Dear Sir, Is gay marriage immoral?
Answer: God’s plan for marriage is revealed in the early chapters of the book of Genesis. According to that inspired account, God created humans male and female and charged them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth with their offspring. In the second chapter of Genesis, we are told of the creation of Adam and Eve. Following a description of their relationship, the author observes, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24). This statement of the design and will of God for marriage is reinforced in the prohibition of homosexual relations in Leviticus 18:22. Our Lord Jesus, the Son of God, upheld the order of creation in his appealing to "the beginning" to establish what is right and wrong in terms of marriage (Matthew 19:4, 8). For persons who recognize the truth of the scriptures, the wisdom of the Creator, and the authority of Jesus to make pronouncements on such matters, this should suffice to settle the issue.
