Think on These
Things
by Tom McLemore
Question: Dear sir, I think all truth is relative. What’s true for you does not necessary mean it is true for me. You have your truth and I’ll have mine.
Answer: While this is not a question, there is a response which is indicated by this comment. One of the characteristics of this present age is that many have rejected the existence of absolute truths. This disillusionment is the result of the failure of so many things which were said in the past to be absolutely true. While many despair over this course of events, there is some good in it, because it forces humans to acknowledge their limitations and place in the universe. It has the potential of helping us to attain to the humility that should characterize us as sinful creatures of God dependent upon our Creator. However, the fact that things said to be absolute truths have failed does not prove that there is no absolute truth. It only proves that human beings are not capable of mastering the universe! God has spoken (Hebrews 1:1, 2) and his Word is absolute truth, and we can and must know it (John 8:32; 14:6; 17:17)!
