Question: Dear Sir, with all due respect, don’t you think it is ridiculous for you people to think that there is only one true church and that you are it?

Answer: Thank you for the question. I assure you that what we may or may not think is of no consequence. The truth of God’s revealed word is what matters. If we call upon anyone to accept something purely because we think it is true, we are being ridiculous. However, if God’s word teaches it, regardless of how ridiculous it might seem, it is right and true. These are the facts of Scripture: Jesus promised to build one church (Matthew 16:18). One may read about only one church in the New Testament. It is the body of Christ, and there is one body (Ephesians 1:22, 23; 4:4). All penitent believers who are baptized into Christ are in that one body (Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:26, 27). Regardless of who says they are that one body, the fact remains that those whom the Lord has added to that one church are the ones who are it (Acts 2:41, 47). It is what HE says and does that settles the matter.
