Think on These

Things

by Tom McLemore

Question: Mr. McLemore, Can the existence of God be proved?

Answer: That depends upon what kind of proof one is seeking. There are many who will not acknowledge what cannot be experienced through the senses. It also depends upon what preconceptions one has about God. Some have made up their minds about what kind of God God must be before they will acknowledge that God exists. Under those circumstances, they would not be able recognize the God who exists if he did not meet their expectations. The people whom moderns call primitive considered the existence of deity to be self-evident and pondered the significance of the divine manifestations. However, many moderns assume that God does not exist and try to explain divine manifestations in purely naturalistic terms. When they say that everything that is has resulted from the interactions and forces of matter, they still are faced with the ultimate question: "Where did the matter come from?" "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God" (Hebrews 11:3).
