Think on These
Things
by Tom McLemore
Question:
Mr. McLemore, Does your church believe that you are the only ones going to
heaven? Answer (continued from last
week): As we noted last week (Matthew
7:21; 1 John 2:17) those who go to heaven will be those who do the will of the
Father. There are some related facts
that simply cannot be avoided: Jesus promised to build his church (Matthew
16:18); he made good on his promise on Pentecost (Acts 2); and those who do the
will of the Father announced by Peter on that day are being added by the Lord
to that church (Acts 2:38-41, 47). The
undeniable truth is that there is no one who has done the will of the Father as
announced by Peter on Pentecost who has not been added by the Lord to his
church! Not everyone who has been added
to that church will continue to do the will of the Father and be saved
eternally, but there is no saved sinner who will enter heaven not having
been added by the Lord to his church! The ultimate question to be considered is
this: Who has done the will of the Father?
